Art and design is a powerful subject that stimulates creativity, imagination and allows children to develop their problem solving skills. It affords opportunities for children to make sense of and view the world through visual, tactile and sensory experiences.
We desire to see all children flourish in this area of the curriculum and to express themselves individually. Our artists will develop good Art & Design habits over their school career.

We now live in an information age and digital technologies are impacting and changing the way society lives and develops at an alarming rate. The generation of children we teach are often described as Digital Natives, connected to the Internet of Things. We must strive to equip them to be able to participate fully and safely as citizens of this new connected world. We use technology to promote initiative and independent learning across the curriculum.

PSHE education enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. It aims to help children understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. Our children will work on the skills to develop confidence and emotional resilience, as well as a sense of responsibility within themselves. Through this, they will develop their own God-given talents, enjoy positive relationships built on mutual respect and develop a healthy and safe lifestyle.

Religious Education takes place in whole school situations like Collective Worship and it is also taught as a specific subject.
In the teaching of Religious Education we journey together as a school community, staff, children, parents and governors as we make our own faith journey. We do this in partnership with the home, the school and the parish.

At Sacred Heart, we believe that children are naturally curious about the world around them. Our aim is to foster that curiosity and allow children the opportunities and skills needed to become innovative and critical thinkers who question and investigate the things they wonder about.
Science is the study of the world around us through listening, observing and recording.
It involves questioning and finding different ways of answering those questions. It encourages learners to question the way things work or how they came to be and then it allows those questions to be explored, tested and refined as necessary.
